FIFA Will Pay Premier League Clubs For World Cup Players, From Man City To Liverpool

Argentina will meet

On November 20, the 2022 FIFA World Cup got underway with more than 800 players. FIFA will pay the appropriate clubs a certain sum for each player depending on how many players each club had to release.

Argentina will meet France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final on December 18, bringing the tournament to a close. The players will return to their various teams after the quadrennial competition in Qatar is over. And the 2022–23 club season won’t be long before they get started. It was unprecedented for clubs to have to release their players in the middle of the season for a World Cup. FIFA agreed to compensate the clubs as part of the agreement, nevertheless.

According to a story in The Athletic, FIFA stated that a total of $209 million had been set aside for the current World Cup. Which equates to around $10,000 for each player for each day they are away from their clubs. The projection goes to roughly $370,000 for the semi-finals and beyond the reward.

Money doesn’t just go to the teams

The money doesn’t just go to the teams that the players are currently playing for, which is fascinating. Even the clubs that have contributed to the players’ growth since 2020 receive a fair share.

The money is divided precisely into three parts. A third of the compensation will be paid to the person who had the player’s registration in 2020–21. Another third in 2021–22, and the remaining third will go to the club where the player is now playing.

FIFA will reimburse the Premier League teams with roughly $27 million for releasing. Their players to compete in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
